We used the Makey Makey as a controller to play Tetris. The Play Dough and metal wire are conductive and are connected to the Makey Makey with alligator clips. The wood cubes with holes drilled in them are there to make the controllers more pronounced. They’re secured to the floor with modeling clay.
Not only can you play the Tetris game, but the Makey Makey website links to other activities such as piano, bongos, sound effects, a spinner, and dice you can roll, plus games such as flappy bird.
Something I learned: Modeling clay isn’t conductive.
Something I learned when we took a Makey Makey class at the library: Maybe you don’t want to attach Play Dough directly to your alligator clips. Dry Play Dough is hard to clean off the teeth of the alligator clips, and when it’s dry it doesn’t make a good connection. Can you imagine a whole class of kids trying to get their alligator clips working? Chaos.
